Terms and Conditions

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF HIRE

 

  1. The Customer acknowledges that the costume is received in good condition and is safe and suitable for its intended use.
  2. ID: Photo identification is required for all hires (e.g. Driver’s Licence).
  3. Hire period: The hire period is for up to four (4) nights. An extra $10 per night per costume applies if you require your costume for longer. 
  4. Late fee: Costumes not returned by the Due Date without prior arrangement will incur a late fee of $15 per night, per costume.
  5. Bond: A bond of $50-$150 will be charged per costume and is in addition to the cost of hire. The bond will be refunded in full provided the costume is returned on time and in good condition (given fair wear and tear). Charges for extra cleaning, repairs and/or lost items will be deducted from your bond. If these charges exceed your bond, you will be required to pay the additional costs.
    The bond can only be refunded in the same form it was paid, i.e. cash or to the same credit/ EFTPOS card that was used to complete the hire transaction. Uncollected bonds will be held for one calendar month from the date of return. If the bond is not collected by that time, it will be forfeit.
  6. Refunds/Exchanges: There is no refund for items hired once they leave the premises, including for costumes not worn. Should the customer want to exchange an item due to sizing, a cleaning fee of $10 per item will apply. Exchanges must be made within 24 hours and for the same item. If we do not have the same item in another size, the customer may swap for an item of equal or greater value and the difference must be paid. There is no refund if the replacement costume has a lower hire cost than the original costume hired.
  7. Cleaning: Please do not wash the costumes as many of them are delicate and require special treatment.
  8. Bookings: All bookings incur a $25 deposit per costume which is deducted from your total hire cost. This is non-refundable if you cancel the costume/s or do not collect your booking.
  9. Remote Service Fee: Please note there is a minimum service fee of $30/hour to arrange bookings of three or more costumes remotely. The service fee goes towards your total hire cost but is non-refundable if you do not go ahead with the order. This is in addition to the booking deposit.
  10. Couriers: Courier charges are in addition to hire costs. Couriers will not be processed until all costs associated with the hire have been paid in full and the signed Terms and Conditions have been emailed to us. Whilst every endeavour is made to ensure your costume arrives in time for your event, the Customer acknowledges that once the costume leaves the shop, Desiree is not responsible for any delays or non-delivery by the courier company. Once the costume has been collected from our shop, Desiree will email tracking details to the Customer. The Customer agrees to then follow up any concerns regarding delivery with the courier company direct. No changes can be made to the costume hired or delivery address once the costume has been collected by the courier.
    Return courier: The Customer must use a tracked courier to all returns and immediately email tracking details to Desiree. 
  11. Outstanding debt: The Customer agrees they are liable for any outstanding debt including late fees, damage to costumes and replacement costs.
    Any outstanding debt may be collected by a debt collection agency. Any costs associated with the debt collection including but not limited to legal fees, debt collection commissions, fees and disbursements, shall be paid by the Customer. In addition to this, the full bond will be forfeited once the matter has been referred to the debt collection agency. Desiree reserves the right to report items as stolen should they be retained after the original due date without prior written agreement.
  12. Privacy Act 2020: Desiree requires personal information about the Customer for the purpose of collecting any outstanding debt and/or reporting items as stolen. The Customer can access and seek correction of any personal information by contacting Desiree. The Customer authorises Desiree to disclose information about the Customer to such persons as may be necessary to enable Desiree to recover such debt. The information contained in these terms and conditions is destroyed on completion of the hire.
